Vertical Blinds Guide
Vertical blinds are ideal for use in
large windows or sliding glass doors, since they will slide from one side to
the other making it easy to open the door.
In years past, vertical blinds were usually only available in lightweight
plastic. These blinds would make annoying noises as they would flop around
after you opened or closed them. Nowadays there are many options available
as to styles and types of vertical blinds. You may select vertical blinds in
sheer fabrics, fabrics with vinyl backing, embossed vinyl, wood and faux
wood. The fabric blinds with vinyl backing will provide you with better
lighting, as well as additional insulation to block out heat and cold.
In recent years, PVC blinds have evolved into a unique material that can
actually resemble fabric. With these blinds you are able to achieve the
beauty of fabric, while benefiting from easier cleaning and a lower price
than fabric blinds. Some people, however, still prefer the fabric blinds.
You can actually make your room look larger by using vertical blinds. For
example, vertical blinds will lengthen the appearance of your room by
keeping your eyes moving up and down. To make your room appear taller, use
monochromatic colors in your vertical blinds. You may also hang vertical
blinds over the sliding door, then hang a large mirror on an adjacent wall.
This will actually make your room seem larger.
You can also create a minimalist effect by playing down certain features of
your room, such as a bright carpet. If you are in a situation in which you
are stuck with a certain color carpet, make sure the colors of your walls
and vertical blinds are neutral shades.
