About Vinyl Window Blinds
Vinyl window blinds are composed of a
solid or foam poly vinyl chloride (PVC) plastic. This is the same material
from which milk bottles are composed. This is the latest material used for
the slats of window blinds. The width of the blind slats is normally 2",
2-1/2" or 3" and the surface of these slats may be smooth or embellished
with a wood grain finish. These blinds are normally white, but there are a
few wood tones available as well.
Some of the companies that manufacture these PVC blinds include Hunter
Douglas, Comfortex, and Levelor.
The PVC blinds are very durable and are resistant to UV rays and water.
Therefore, they are very easy to clean should they become wet or moist. As a
result, they are ideal for use in bathrooms, over kitchen sinks or other
areas that may get moist. Even if a window is left open in the rain, these
blinds should not be damaged; however, you should take care to wipe them
down if they do get wet.
The disadvantage with PVC blinds is their weight since PVC slats are heavier
than wood or composite slats. Therefore, these blinds may not be a good
choice for large windows as they may be somewhat difficult to raise and
lower.
Vinyl window blinds are a nice selection for your windows that offer an
inexpensive, functional quality. They are often found in offices or
apartments, or even in garages. These types of blinds are usually the least
expensive of any type of window blinds. There are many options that you can
integrate with vinyl blinds. For example, you might want to achieve a more
elegant look in one of your rooms. In that case, consider a sheer fabric
over the blinds.
